The first morning in Belgrade started like my usual ones in Germany: With homemade muesli. The yoghurt tastes different here. Well, that was to be expected, because there was no Alpro here. But that wasn’t so tragic, because the raspberries were excellent! After a slow breakfast, we set out to explore the city: Bridges, Danube promenade, the statue of Stefan Nemanja. This guy simply founded the most important Serbian dynasty. Impressive, isn’t it? And I just founded a little cultural association. And although that is wayyy smaller, I am quite proud of it, haha!
Then we went to the Cathedral of St. Sava. It is still very, very young and really beautiful! On the way there, I first got a good taste of the traffic. Traffic rules seem more like a recommendation to me here. The buses and roundabouts are so crowded, you can not put a single page between them! Off to the side, there are pretty fountains everywhere. And there’s something else I learned during my sightseeing: there’s excellent coffee on every corner! Not with plant milk, but with excellent crema. And coffee is an important thing, especially when travelling.
In the evening, I quickly bought a few postcards and a map of Novi Sad, because that’s where we’re going tomorrow! And I want to be prepared for that. And something else ended up in my bag: A small pumpkin made of plush. It is to become the associations‘ mascot. We don’t have a name yet, but we’ll find one!
